The Museum was opened on June 11, 2005 through the efforts and the careful interest of the municipal administration and thanks to the contribution of the European Community.
The original nucleus of the collection, set up by the city municipality through a first collection of dolls, toys, photographs, casts, work tools and other evidences related to the activities of the Santa Giuletta Factories, was linked to a workshop of paper mache laboratory in order to introduce this technique to the younger generations and to stimulate the improvement of new activities aimed at the production of dolls.
Over the time the exhibit has been renewed in the setting and has been enriched thanks to the activity of the Museum Commission who constantly carries out a complex activity of research, identification, cataloguing, restoration and placement of dolls, making this museum a dynamic space accessible to visitors and useful to people.
The celebration of the 10th anniversary (2015) of the Museum was an occasion to commemorate cousins Teresio Garbagna and Luigi Porcellana who were the pioneers of the opening of the first doll laboratory in Santa Giuletta Village, and all the workers of the sector (expecially women) , who contributed to the economic development and to the reputation of this small town.
